About spades.live

spades.live is a free place to play the card games people grew up with — Spades, Bid Whist, Hearts, Tunk and Crazy Eights — with the people you’d normally play them with, even when you’re far apart.

Why we built it

Card night is about more than the cards: it’s the trash talk, the groans when someone gets set, and the look on your partner’s face when you cover their nil. Most online card games leave that out. On spades.live every player’s live video sits right at their seat around a real-feeling table, so the game and the conversation happen in the same place.

What makes it different

• Your house rules. Nil and blind nil, jokers and deuces, bag penalties, uptown and downtown, drops and hit locks — the host chooses before the deal.
• Nothing to install. Share a link; friends join from a phone, tablet or computer.
• Bots for empty chairs. Short a player? A bot fills the seat and steps aside when a friend arrives.
• Fair play. The server deals and enforces the rules, so there’s no reneging and no arguments about the score.
• Privacy first. Video goes directly between players and is never recorded. There are no accounts.

Social play only

spades.live is for fun. There is no real-money wagering, no prizes and nothing of monetary value to win or lose.
